Decreased muscle strength and muscle soreness are common clinical symptoms of dermatomyositis. Muscle strength assessment timely and correctly is vital for diagnosis and treatment of dermatomyositis. At present, conventional treatment mainly includes glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants, however, the muscle strength of some patients recovers slowly or has no significant improvement due to the lack of response to the medication. Some patients even have adverse reactions such as steroid myositis, infection, or osteoporosis due to long-term use of glucocorticoids. Therefore, rehabilitation is considered to be an effective means to restore motor function in patients with dermatomyositis. Correct muscle strength assessment and designed rehabilitation are helpful to improve the muscle symptoms and quality of life of patients with dermatomyositis and reduce the adverse reactions caused by drug.
