摘 要:海外学界对霍尔身份的阐释可分为“边缘性—中心性”(社会向度)、“学术性—公共性”(学术向度)、“英国性—民族性”(民族向度)三个话语框架。通过多个二元框架,霍尔差异巨大的身份得以被统一在他“联合民众、参与社会对话”的公众启蒙理想之下,并凝聚为一种“差异的联合”的理想,不断激励着西方左翼学界视霍尔为打破边界、抵抗资本主义意识形态霸权的社会主义知识分子代表。值得注意的是,它同时体现出霍尔有关解放主体、解放路径和政治方案的思考转向。这也是霍尔思想及围绕其辐射开来的英国文化研究范式在我国文化建设的语境中的限度所在。要深入到政治、经济和社会层面分析我国的文化建设与传播,还需依托我国马克思主义文化理论、话语和知识体系的探索与创新。The interpretation of Stuart Hall's identity by overseas academia can be clasified into three frameworks:“marginality—centrality”in the dimension of social identity,“academic—popularity”in the dimension of academic identity and“Britishness—Caribbeanness”in the dimension of nation identity.Through multiple frameworks,Hal's vastly different identities were unified under his enthusiasm and devotion of“uniting the people and participating in public dialogue”.The tension of difference and uniting condenses into an ideal of“the union of the difference”,which constantly encouraged the Western left-wing to regard Hall as a representative of socialist intellectuals who were keeping breaking the border and resisted the hegemony of capitalist ideology.It reflects a major shift in Hall's thoughts about object,path and political plan of liberation,which is also the defect of Hall's thoughts showed in the context of Chinese cultural construction.To analyze China's cultural construction and dissemination,we need to rely more on the exploration of localized Marxist cultural theory in China.
