Translation Subtitles of American TV Series from Cultural Perspective—A Case Study of Gossip Girl

摘　　要：Since American TV series have been playing an important role in the international community and transmission, this paper takes the subtitle of the popular TV play 'Gossip Girl' for the study, exploring the cultural factors'importance of the translation of subtitles, and combined Nida's functional equivalence theory to analyze the cultural differences between China and America, using the domesticating translating strategy and foreignizing translating strategy, then finds out that we should use the appropriate literal translation and free translation to correctly handle the cultural factors, avoid the loss of information which because of the cultural differences, make the cultural transformation in translation come true.
