摘　　要：Medium voltage switchgear is widely used in distribution network. It plays the role of power distribution, measurement, control and protection circuit in residents, factories and public service facilities. However, due to the high standard and complexity of the structural design of the medium voltage switchgear, some product defects will lead to a certain short circuit fault of the medium voltage switchgear. This paper analyzes the short-circuit fault of medium voltage switchgear, introduces the research on arc extinguishing technology of medium voltage switchgear, and puts forward corresponding preventive countermeasures, which is helpful to reduce the short-circuit fault of medium voltage switchgear in power grid.
