摘　　要：On May 12, 2008, an earthquake of Ms 8.0 hit the area around Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, China. It has been one of the most destructive earthquakes since the founding of P. R. China in 1949. The quake caused not only tremendous loss of life and wealth, but also severe damage to transmission and substation facilities. After the disaster, an expert group from China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI) was sent for on-site investigation.
