摘　　要："城市小说"既是一种分类也是一种观念。我们可以透过对"城市小说"这一文类的文化研读来理解城市这一"文本"在生成和变迁中衍化出的复杂意蕴。本文选择部分较有代表性的美国犹太作家的作品,试从交叉学科的视域来研究"城市文本"和文学文本之间的互动与关联,并藉此勾勒出美国犹太作家笔下现代城市的概貌及类型。"City literature" is both a category and a concept. A better understanding of the meaning of "city text" in formation and transformation can be obtained through a cultural reading of the "city literature". This essay makes an interdisciplinary analysis of some selected American Jewish fictions to examine the connections between the "city texts" and literary texts,and therefore,to draw a sketch of the cities in the American Jewish writers fictions.
