摘　　要：WTO是一个以市场经济和自由贸易原则为基础建立起来的国际经济组织.从中国经济未来战略和发展的高度看,加入WTO是21世纪中国最重大的事件.加入WTO,是深化改革,扩大开放,提高我国国际政治地位的需要,是加速我国经济全方位参与国际竞争,走向经济全球化的必由之路.以加入WTO为契机,将开辟中国经济发展的新纪元.West China is a vast land full of infinite mystery and appeal and a region laden with enormous potential for development. However, the economic development in Western China is dramatically stagnating compared with that in the relatively developed coastal areas of China in terms of both the advancement of the overall reform and the process and performance in its industrial restructuring. After China's entry into WTO, West China should closely follow WTO's rules to accelerate the process of market-oriented development, build up standardized and legalized hardware and software environment so as to speed up western development to narrow the gap between west and east of China.
