再论后现代历史小说的社会意义——以华美历史小说为例

摘　　要：本文以华美历史小说及其社会意义的关系为切入点,尝试分析把历史小说当作历史的阐释方法所内含的两对矛盾:一是后现代文学中历史书写的叙事性与史学的求真要求之间的矛盾,二是后现代史学观的自我否定性与历史叙事的肯定性社会意义之间的矛盾。文章提出,解读后现代历史小说的社会意义需要跳出历史研究的框架,把历史小说还原为文学,从文学作品能够创造大众历史的文学社会学功能中解读其社会意义。Taking Chinese American historical fiction as a case in point,this paper attempts to resolve two pairs of contradictions in the interpretation of history in literary texts: On the one hand,the textuality of historical writings in postmodern literature challenges the possibility of pursuing truth in traditional historical studies;on the other,the self-reflexivity of deconstructive postmodern historiography denies the possibility of positive construction of historical meaning.It is argued that the sociohistorical meaning of postmodern historical fiction is possible only when the text is relocated from the historiographical framework to the domain of literature.
