摘　　要：这是拙著《糖史》第二编,国际编的“附章”。新疆是中国地方,本应列入第一编·国内编。但是由于本章一开头时所说的原因,所以列入国际编。可它究竟不属于国际,所以又特标名为“附章”。《糖史》名称像是科技史,其中也确实谈到科技问题;但是我的重点是谈国家与国家之间的文化交流。这一点在这一篇“附章”中更为明显。本章共谈了中印两国三种古代文字的医药残卷。This is an appendant chapter to the second part of the author's A History of Sugar,a book seemingly falling under the category of the history of science and technology but actu-ally devoted to the cultural exchange between nations. This essay talks about the medicalfragments written in two archaic languages,that is,Sanskrit and Tocharian. According tothe author, little comparative study on the two major medical systems——Western andEastern——has been done. What the author tries to do is to provide first-hand material forthe future research.
