摘　　要：会话蕴涵作为一种间接表达交际意图的策略，在英语中应用广泛。不能正确地识别和理解，可能成为跨文化交际中的一个障碍。本文报告了对中国英语学习者会话蕴涵理解能力的测试结果，并加以分析和讨论。测试发现中国英语学习者对英语会话蕴涵基本上没有明确意识，识别和理解力都很差。这一能力并不随语言能力的增长而增长；文化背景知识对会话蕴涵的正确理解起着重要作用。本文还讨论了测试结果对英语教学的启示，并提出了一些实践性建议。Abstract Conversational implicature is a communication strategy used to express meaning indirectly. Inability to recognize or interpret it might be a barrier in a cross cultural communication. This paper reports the findings of a test on the interpretation of conversational implicature by Chinese Learners of English. Some related aspects are discussed and the implication of the test to teaching is suggested. Some proposals are made for teachers’ reference.
