大学英语四、六级考试非面试型口语考试效度研究

摘　　要：面对面形式的大学英语四、六级口语考试CET SET已成功地在全国进行了三年。为适应不断扩大的四、六级口语考试规模 ,也为了给没有条件实施CET SET地区的广大考生提供一个更具现实可操作性的口语能力测量手段 ,四、六级考试委员会开发了以录音方式进行的CET SOPT。在CET SOPT效度研究中 ,首先进行了有 75名学生参加的CET SOPT与CET SET对比测试。经统计分析 ,考生在两个考试中的成绩相关虽不很高 (0 .70 0 ) ,但 88.7%的考生得到的等级完全一致或只差半档。评分信度检验表明 ,CET SOPT评分员的评分相关为 0 .835。对于口语能力这样的主观性测试来说 ,两个考试的相关性、评分一致性以及CET SOPT的评分信度均比较令人满意。此外 ,通过对考试设计者预期所考核的语言功能和考生在考试中实际运用的语言功能的对比分析 ,证明了CET SOPT的内容效度 ;通过分析考生所犯的语言错误以及考生所运用的语言的词汇密度 ,表明考生在两个考试中所表达的语言质量基本相同。考生问卷调查结果表明 ,考生对考试的整体设计、试题难易度、答题紧张程度、题型喜欢程度、答题时间、准备时间、考试总时间、考场环境等各方面均较为满意。因此 ,本研究初步论证了CET SOPT与CET SET的可比性 ,也证明了CET SOPT的效度。The face to face CET Spoken English Test has been successfully administered nationwide for three years. In order to cope with the increasing number of students registering for the CET SET, the tape mediated CET Semi Direct Oral Proficiency Test (CET SOPT) was recently developed to serve as a surrogate or backup for the CET SET. The purpose of the present study is to look into the comparability of CET SET and CET SOPT and the validity of CET SOPT. Results from the statistical analysis of the 75 candidates who took both the CET SET and the CET SOPT are quite encouraging. Though the correlation of the two tests (0 700) doesnt seem to be very high, in 88 7% of the occasions, the raters of the two tests either completely agree with each other or deviate by only half a grade. The inter rater agreement of the CET SOPT is a satisfactory 0 835. A comparison of the language functions intended to be elicited by the test tasks of the prototype CET SOPT and those actually used by the candidates in the test proves the content validity of the CET SOPT. A comparison of the errors candidates made and the lexical density of the candidates language produced in the tests shows that there is no significant difference in the quality of the language elicited by the two tests. Feedback from the questionnaire survey, which invites candidates opinions on the overall design of the CET SOPT, the difficulty level of the test, test anxiety experienced before and while taking the test, preference of the test format, length of the test, response and planning time for each task, test environment, etc. shows acceptance of the test by the examinees. In sum, the analysis of various types of data proves the validity of CET SOPT. From the operational point of view, CET SOPT is also cost effective and not labor intensive. The major limitation of CET SOPT is that it does not directly assess interactive oral communication.
