摘　　要：1862年,美国总统林肯接见《汤姆叔叔的小屋》作者斯托夫人并称她为“发动一场大战争的小妇人”。但他一定不会想到,40年后,这部抨击黑奴制的小说会在大洋彼岸的中国引起广泛的影响,对唤起中国人民的民族觉醒产生巨大的作用。Uncle Tom's Cabin was the first American novel translated into classical Chinese in 1901. In 1961 it was adapted into a play in China, but the plot was quite different from the original due to the 'leftist' ideological impact. The novel was retranslated into spoken language in 1981 and then Chinese scholars began to analyse its structure, characterization, etc.
