摘 要:English intonation is indeed a very trying and perplexing problem to Chinese learners of English. The same is true of Chinese intonation to foreign learners who really want to learn idiomatic Chinese in full measure. In the learning of English or of any language, there can be no escape from this problem of intonation. You can’t just be satisfied with your good-sized vocabulary, faultless grammar, adequate aural-oral ability and decent pronunciation. But if your intonation is inacceptable or unsatisfactory, the entire level of your English will be greatly discounted. Some people, even students specializing in English, do not care much about it.
