摘　　要：翻开《The World Book Dictionary》,Irony一词是这样被介定的:“1.a way of speakinh or writing in which the ordinary meaning Of the words is the opposite of the thought in the speaker’s mind;2.Figurative,an event or outcome which is the opposite of what would naturally be expected…”从修辞学的角度看,定义之一属于Verbal Irony,定义之二属于Situational Irony, 在卜伽丘的《十日谈》中有这么一个故事。一个年轻人爱上了一个贞洁的已婚女子。
