Currently, Israel is undergoing the most profound social change ever since the founding of the nation. The whole country is being set in the transition from the state of a rather extreme collectivism, of total mobilization and of every citizen a soldier on to a more liberal,more open and more individualized orientation. The relationship between the military and the society has also undergone changes. To put it in a nutshell, the positions in their interrelations have just overturned. In the past, it was the military that moulded and influenced the society, but today, the society with its powerful strength is compelling the military to accept and cater to the changing society. Israel's barracks are openning their gates to the society and its military service system, code of action, pattern of management, social function and even the relationship between the higher and lower ranks etc., are all uodergoing profound changes. Time is setting new demand on the Israeli National Defence Force which once contributed a great deal to the country and people. Failing to carry out the reform, it will hot be able to shoulder the tasks entrusted to it by the new time.
