摘　　要：Sri Lanka has the richest archaeological sites in Asia.Stone monuments and the stupa of Jethawanara, belonging to the 4th Century B.C.,represent a cultural heritage of outstanding universal value.All monuments built mainly from granitic gneiss and marble have undergone marked weathering damages.
