摘　　要：城市和都市的发展代表社会组织单位的两个历史阶段,本文从两者发生的社会基本原因、物质结构、发展重点和建设的指导思想四个方面论述了城市和都市的不同,以求科学地把握城市和都市的概念和涵义。在这样的认识基础上,才能产生正确的观点和理论。The city development and the metropolis development represent the two historical phases of the social organization unit. The article explores the differences between city and metropolis in terms of basic social causes, material structures, key points in their development and guidance for their development. The article intends to provide the readers with a scientific understanding of the concepts and meanings of city and metropolis development in order to bring us correct views and theories.
