摘　　要：中国西部,古人曾感叹她遥不可及,高不可攀。即使在边中塞诗人的眼里,也从豪迈中流露出无奈的苍凉。想当年,往西北上,“西出阳关无故人”;向西南走,则又“难于上青天”。可到了交通、科技发达的今天,你可以乘飞机翱翔蓝人,象雄鹰那样俯瞰西部的壮美与秀丽,纵览沧海桑田般的变迁,放眼西部即将进入新世纪的辉煌。曾经沧海的世界屋脊亿万年前,一片神秘的陆地从浩翰的古特提斯海中史诗般崛起,不断隆升,不断壮大。West China embraces Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai provinces, Tibet, Guangxi, Xinjiang, Ningxia autonomous regions and Chongqing Municipality. covering 5.6094 million sq km, about 58.8% of the country's total land area with a population of 320 million, amounting to 26.4% of the nation's total. West China is situated in the hinterland of Eurasia, bordering on 14 countries. The World Roof soars high here. Many mountain ranges start here to stretch across Eurasia. Numerous big rivers that rise in the western areas flow through the 2 continents respectively to the Pacific, Indian and Arctic Oceans. From ancient times these areas have kept close contact with other parts of the country as well as the world. West China is the birthplace of the Chinese nation and its long-enduring civilization. It abounds in energy, mineral, biological and tourism resources. Overlooking western areas from an airplane, one can gain a matchless majestic view and see the unending evolution and myriads of changes.
