摘　　要：IN May of 1998, at the Italian Open Tennis Championship, Chinese player Li Fang won in straight sets over Martina Hingis, the top seeded player in the world. With this win, Li re-entered the world top fifty. No Chinese tennis player had ever cracked the world top 100 before.
