摘　　要：Hundreds of gigantic wind-mills rotating slowly in thespring breeze,green wheatfields and yellow rape blossoms turnXinghua County,100 or so kilome-ters northeast of Yangzhou in Jiang-su Province,into an idyllic scene.Gurgling water flowing smoothly inthe rivers enhances this picture ofbeauty and tranquillity.Every spring the scene attractsmany photographers and painters.Windmills,featured not only in pic-tures and paintings,but also insongs,novels and stories,seem to bemuch-loved objects.In the song“Bright Sunny Skies,”theme of the film Story of Liubao Village,whichwas quite popular during the 1950sand 1960s,there is a description ofWindmills.
