摘　　要：Bacteriorhodopsin is the only protein in purple membrane. When illuminated, optically distinct intermediates K, L, M and O are known to appear, then it regenerates itself at the end of the photocycle. In the photocycle, the proton is released. So the function of purple membrane is a light-driven proton pump. The unique structure and function of purple membrane are an ideal material for investigating energy conversion. In recent years,
