摘　　要：本文较全面地论述了泥石流对我国山区城镇工矿的严重危害及其成灾特点,并提出了相应的防御对策.This paper comprehensively discrebed the damage of debris flows to towns in mountain regions of China, and discussed the hazard chracteristics and process of debris flows threatening towns . Recently, in China there arc over 100 towns in mountain regions have been damaged and threatened by debris flows. Debris flows killed 6000 individuals and make property loss up to several billion yuan in the latest 40 years. Based on the hazard characteristics and present situation of mountain towns, it shows the countermeasures from five aspects, It is significant in the macro-decision. Several cases of countermcasure efficent were demonstrated with cost-efficcnt ratio of 1 : 20 to 1 : 35 and much more social and ecological effectiveness. The debris flows damaging towns can be gradually mitigated acccording to the control practices of mountain regions in Southwest and Northwest China.
