As Ruskin's fairy tale,The King of the Golden River never seems to have been approached and interpreted from the perspective of ecocriticism.A close reading of the text reveals that The King of the Golden River is a work representing a pictorialized ecocriticism.Ruskin not only shows his respect for Nature, but also gives expression to his views on moral prerequisites for the ultimate realization of harmony between man and Nature, showing his ecological concern for man's development. The ideas concerned can also be found in Ruskin's other works, but The King of the Golden River surpasses them in its vividness and profundity.
