摘　　要：河南绅士王锡彤在清末民初积极投身于地方教育、政务,捍卫地方利益等活动,成为具有一定趋新色彩的 "学商"、"绅商"或"职商",加快了中国内地绅士阶层的近代性转型,促进了近代社会的发展演化。其难以割舍的传 统影响,又不可避免地对河南社会的进步产生一定的制约。At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,WANG Xi-tong,the gentry from Henan Province actively devoted himself to the local education,political affairs and defended the local interests and did many other activities,which facilitated the modern transition of the inland gentries and promoted the evolution of the modern society.
