BITEPLATINITE-MERENSKYITE SYSTEM AND MICHENERITE FROM A MINING DISTRICT IN CHINA AND PROBLEMS CONCERNING THEIR CLASSIFICATION AND NOMENCLUTURE

摘  要:The principal platinum metal minerals in a certain copper-nickel sulphide deposit,China, are merenskyite, biteplapalladite moncheite, while miehenerite, biteplatinite and sperrylite come next in order of abundance. It is suggested that for the michenerite, biteplatinite-merenskyite system the atomic ratio of (Pt+Pd) to (Te+Bi) should be restricted to 1 : 2; for miehenerite, Te :Bi=3:2--1:1 ; biteplatinite-merenskyite system Te : Bi > 3 : 2. Within the biteplatinite-merenskyite system, further classification are proposed on the atomic ratio Pt/Pd; biteplatinite (Pt/Pd>4:1), Moncheite (Pt/Pd = 4:1-1:1), bitep]apalladite(Pt/Pd =1:1--1:4), and merenskyite (Pt/Pd <1:4).The principal platinum metal minerals in a certain copper-nickel sulphide deposit, China, are merenskyite, biteplapalladite, moncheite, while michenerite, biteplatinite and sperrylite come next in order of abundance.It is suggested that for the michenerite, biteplatinite-merenskyite system the ato-mic ratio of (Pt+Pd) to (Te+Bi) should be restricted to 1 : 2; for michenerite.
