摘　　要：第三条道路是近年来西欧社会民主党人适应形势发展而提出的治国方略 ,它是在传统社会民主和新自由主义的发展模式在经济全球化冲击下相继遭到失败后而进行的探索 ,其实质在于力争将公平与效率更有效地结合起来。这种探索成功与否 ,取决于社会民主党能否在 2 1世纪愈益迅猛的经济全球化条件下 ,在公平与效率、平等与自由之间寻得一条国家与市场平衡、劳动与资本双赢的发展之路。The third way, which has got much attention in political and academic circles in recent years, is Western European social democrats' new way of governance Taking advantage of old-style social democracy and neoliberalism, the third way tries to go beyond them under economic globalization Old-style social democracy and neoliberalism have failed to adapt themselves to economic globalization over the past two decades The third way emerged in the mid-1990s as an alternative politics It tries to seek a better way to combine efficiency of free-market capitalism with left-of-center values Whether the third way will succeed or not in the 21st century, to a large extent, depends on how well social democrats would regulate the intractable globalization Spurring efficiency without sacrificing social justice will be crucial to the success of the third way politics
