摘　　要：第二次鸦片战争期间,举世闻名的圆明园被英国侵略者付之一炬.英国方面辩解焚园的理由是:报复被俘人员在此园中遭受虐待.这只不过是欺骗世人的一个借口.他们最终的目的是为了迫使清政府就范,速定和约.将在清帝心目中占有重要地位的圆明园焚毁,是侵略者达到罪恶目的的一种罪恶手段.During the Second Opium War , Yuan Ming Yuan ,the famous imperial garden , was destroyed by fire by the British aggressor troops . Because the prisoners of war were maltreated in this garden , they decided to retaliate by burning it down . It is the reason given by the British military. But it is a pretext to deceive people all of the world . Their ultimate and real aim was to force the Chinese government to submit ,to sign the treaty immediately . In fact , they got what they wanted by this kind of evil means .
