Objective To explore the effects of acetazolamide, vitamin tablets, and Redbull drink on human myocardial enzyme after exercises at high altitude. Methods Forty young men living at 3 700 m's altitude for six months were at random divided into four groups, i.e. acetazolamide, vitamin tablets, redbull drink and placebo group, consisting of 10 persons per group. They were asked to pedal the EMG-bicycle ergometer, and the resistance was progressively increased up to exhaustion. Their blood lactic acid (BLA) and ammonia in sera were measured respectively at peaceful hours, before taking drugs, after having taken drugs for 10 days, and 10 days later after stopping the medicine. Results (1) BLA and ammonia in sera were increased in exhaustive exercises (P<0.01). (2) Ammonia and BLA were lower after taking acetazolamide, vitamin tablets and Redbull drink for 10 days (P<0.05 or 0.01). Conclusion Taking acetazolamide and vitamin tablets can reinforce human organism energy metabolism, enhance organism aerobic exercise abillty and have good function of banishing tiredness after exercises at high altitude, and acetazolamide is most effective.
