Objective: To observe the effect of Mongolian herbal medicine Naru-3 combined with rotating magnetic field on the contents of superoxide dismutase (SOD), malon-dialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) in the brain tissues of rat. Methods:SOD activity was determined with trihydroxy benzene;MDA content, with TBA;and NO content, with improved Griess method. Results:Mongolian herbal medicine Naru-3,either used alone or used in combination with rotating magnetic field, can increase SOD activity in the brain tissues of rat but, when it is used with rotating magnetic field, the SOD activity is remarkably higher than that in the control group,MDA content is significantly decreased and it is much lower in the combined group than that in the control group. When used in combination,it can riase the NO content to a much higher level, compared with the used-alone group,Naru-3 used in combination with rotating magnetic field can increase SOD activity notably and can decrease MDA content. But the rise of NO content is unnoticeable, with no statistical significance. Conclusion:Mongolian herbal medicine Naru-3,either used alone or in combination with rotating magnetic field can influence the metabolism of free radicals in the brain tieeues of rat.
