摘　　要：九十年代之后,艺术家们在传统语言与西方现代思潮间作出取舍,在本土文化与国际语言间作出选择。在主流的学术上,对语言上的借鉴、创新、出奇是持鼓励态度的,但在艺术观念方面,则不鼓励走得太远,进入21世纪,一批艺术创作骨干相继在美术教育机构、学术研究机构走上领导岗位,繁琐的行政工作对他们的创作精力与时间多少有一定的影响。而此时,一批新人在创作上已崭露头角,湖北的经济发展滞后于沿海城市,艺术市场的薄弱不一定是件坏事,它可以避免艺术家在创作上的浮躁与媚俗,在社会大变革的背景下创作出有深度有力度、经得起历史筛滤和考验的艺术作品。after the 90′s artists began to accept or reject between the traditional Chinese and modern Western thoughts, and make their choices of artistic languages,be it local or international. The mainstream academics encourages technical appropriations, innovations and even inventions, but somewhat refrains from going too far on the conceptual side. Entering the 21st century, the once active artists have become leaders of art research and educational institutions and no longer active in their art makings. In succession, a new generation of active artists is appearing. The relatively stagnant economy of Hubei Province and the thin art market are not necessarily a drawback, for that artists are not so impetuous and fawn on the market in their art makings, and thus be able to make more profound, historically durable art works on the background of this tremendous social change.
