Study on the Bronze Board with Animal Pattern Unearthed from Erlitou Site of Yanshi County

摘　　要：3 pieces of bronze board with animal pattern and inlaid turquoise unearthed from aristocratic tombs at Erlitou site, the capital city of Xia dynasty, has been published. These are of the 3rd and 4th period of Erlitou Culture. According to the difference of animal patterns, they are classified into 2 types: one is dragon and tiger board, with tiger taking dominant position and assisting with dragon. The other is Qiulong dragon (虬龙) board, presenting God -dragon with two horns and rhombus eyes, used to be named Taotie Pattern incorrectly. These bronze boards functioned as follows: firstly, pendants for the chiefs of then time; secondly, the mystical symbol of Xia people for their ancestors; thirdly, sorcery tool (the chief of then time was socerer ) These boards display the highly extracted notations of aesthetic standard at Xia time and represented the admiration of Xia society for dragon, symbolizing the bloord relationship employed to consolidate ties among people by Xia anarchy.3 pieces of bronze board with animal pattern and inlaid turquoise unearthed from aristocratic tombs at Erlitou site, the capital city of Xia dynasty, has been published.
