摘　　要：元数据是空间数据共享的基础信息。元数据的制作和生成需要对数据深入了解并花费大量的时间,同时因为在目前绝大多数GIS应用项目中,元数据的制作并没有明确的规定,所以成为难以实施的工作内容。自动生成元数据可以大大减轻元数据制作的负担,对促进空间数据共享系统的建设具有至关重要的意义。本文在分析国际上元数据生成技术发展、空间元数据特点和可能信息源的基础上,提出了针对GIS空间数据的元数据自动提取生成技术体系,并结合基于元数据的信息共享管理系统IIMS,设计了空间元数据自动生成系统。Metadata is the foundemental information for Geo-spatial data sharing. Since considerable time will be spent to acquire a good knowledge of production and generation of metadata, and no specific rules could be followed to produce metadata for the most of GIS applications, it's difficult to practice in the real job. Automatic generation technology of metadata will save lots of efforts and make more sense to construct geo-spatial data sharing system. Based on an analysis of world wide generation technology of metadata, the nature of metadata and possible information resources, the article comes up with a new automatic generation technology of GIS metadata and a system design referring to IIMS, a metadata-based information management system.
