摘　　要：Large swathes of arrow bamboo groves at and above 2,700 meters in the Piankou Nature Reserve in Sichuan's Mianyang are producing purple blooms,and some groves have started to wither and die.An absence of bamboo means famine for giant pandas living there.Sichuan has consequently activated its giant panda contingency plan.
