摘 要:形式主义和功能主义是两种截然不同的研究传统.本文讨论了它们之间的根本分歧所在.本文认为,就语言本质属性而言,形式主义和功能主义不能共存于一个共同的语言理论之中.本文同时认为,形式主义和功能主义仍然可以互相学习,前提是双方愿意进行对话以消除相互之间的诸多误解.Formalism and functionalism are distinct research traditions. This paper argues about the nature of the salient difference between these two traditions. It claims that formalist linguistics and functionalist linguistics should not complement each other in terms of the nature of language, and, therefore, that they could not be integrated into a general theory of language. However, it is also suggested that both traditions could learn from each other provided that they are willing to communicate with each other so as to clear up misunderstandings of each other.
