摘 要:限据海水进退规程、植物化石、火山碎屑岩分布及煤层发育等情况进行对比,华北地台北部晚古生代普遍存在的巨厚煤层应归属太原组。<ABSTRACT> Some (ieologists believed that the large thick coal seam No. 4 coal seam of the Palaeozoic coal bearing strata in Xinglong coalfield belongs to the Shanxi Formation. In recent years, more than 10 species of plant fossil have been collected from the roof of No. 4 coal seam. Within the fossils, the heptdodendron posthumii .L szeianum.Neuropteris ovata arc the important elements of the Taiyuan Formation and the Emplectopteris triangularis . Lobatannalaria sinensis are the most important typical species of the Shanxi Formation. The No. 4 coal seam in Xinglong coalfield may correspond approximately to the Dongdayao limestone in the West Hills of Taiyuan. The '20 meters' coal seam in Datong coalfield, the Dabai coal seam in West Hills of Beijing and the No. 6 coal seam in Junggar coalfield, the equivalent horizons, also yield the mixed plant fossils. Therefore, the authors consider that the thick or the large thick coal seam in Xinglong. Daiong. Beijing and Junggar should be attributed to the upper part of the Taiyuan Foum.-ition.
