摘　　要：中晚唐禅僧草书的兴盛不是偶然的 ,有其深刻的文化背景 :禅僧以草书作为参禅悟禅的一种形式 ,草书的兴盛与禅宗的发展有着直接的联系 ;禅僧书家的功利性是其草书兴盛的一个重要原因 ;禅僧草书体现了文人士大夫的审美需求。The prosperity of cursive hand of zen monks of the middle and late Tang Dynasty was not accidental because of its profound cultural background: zen monks regarded the cursive hand as a kind of apperception of zen, and the prosperity of cursive hand had a direct relation to the development of zen; the utilitarianism of the writers was an important cause for the prosperity of their cursive hand.; the cursive hand of zen monks embodied the aesthetic needs of the scholar bureaucrats and literators.
