摘　　要：奥尼尔的《榆树下的欲望》与曹禺的《雷雨》在主题形态、人物描写与表现技法上有许多相似之处。两个剧本的人物与情节都有其现实性基础,但同时又都超越了现实,表现出对人与生命的终极理解,也因此带来了相近的悲剧观念。这正是曹禺接受奥尼尔影响的现实与理论基础。Comparing CAO Yu's Thunderstorm with Oneal's Desire Under the Elm Tree, many similarities between the two plays can be found. The themes of the plays and the skills they relied on to describe the characters in the plays are quite similar. All the heroes and heroine are based on real life characters but denote more. A study on this helps to get an idea of Oneal's influence on CAO Yu.
