Objective To explore the change of dark focus after Coriolis acceleration stimulation. Methods Thirty four healthy volunteers (aged 19-29) served as subjects. Coriolis accelerationwas produced by VTS-Ⅲ Vestibular Exam System, and vestibular autonomic reactions of subjects were evaluated with Graybiel’s grading criterion for acute motion sickness severity. Subject’s dark focus was measured with Helim-Neon (He-Ne) laser vernier optometer before, immediate after and 10 min after Coriolis acceleration stimulation. Results The dark focus after Coriolis acceleration stimulation showed an significant inward (myopic) shift (P<0.01) immediately and 10 min after Coriolisacceleration stimulation(-2.18±1.26 D and -2.30±1.11 D for right eye and -2.29±1.20 D, -2.44±1.20 D for left eye respectively) as compared with that before stimulation (-1.86±1.19 D for right eye and -2.03±1.11 D for left eye). For emmetropia subjects the degree of change of dark focus was positively related with degree of vestibular autonomic reaction. No significant different between changes of dark focus of left and right eyes was found. Conclusions Inward shifts (myopic) of dark focus were observed after Coriolis acceleration stimulation, and related with the degreeof vestibular autonomic reaction.
