摘　　要：20 0 4年1 1月,久经考验的巴勒斯坦领导人阿拉法特去世,巴勒斯坦历史掀开新的篇章。今年1月,巴勒斯坦举行了历史上第二次大选,阿巴斯成为新领导人。他上任后,面临重组权力结构、应对巴勒斯坦极端组织肇事,以及以色列政策是否变动等诸多挑战。同时,在有可能尽快恢复的以巴和谈过程中,在一系列棘手的问题上,诸如犹太定居点、隔离墙、难民、耶路撒冷等问题,以巴双方将展开新的较量。中东局势在发生重大变化。The death of Arafat in Nov. 2004 marked the beginning of a new chapter of the Palestinian history. When the second election in Palestinian history took place in Jan.2005, Abbas became the leader, who is now facing challenges from the power structure reforms, the extremist organizations, and Israel's policies. In the possible future peace talks, the two sides of Palestine and Israel will contest over a series of sticky issues concerning the Jewish settlements, the separation wall, the refugees, and Jerusalem. The U. S. Middle East strategy will further affect the evolution of the Palestine-Israel issue under the changing circumstances in the Middle East.
