摘　　要：本文通过集中探讨多种族、跨国界的权力关系,旨在揭示华人移民本土化与跨国化的一些历史含义。本文分三部分:一、东南亚地方背景:华人移民、槟城和吉打;二、华人移民与殖民主义地区政治:英国领事馆的个案;三、华人跨国商业与殖民主义法制困境:吉打的个案。By focusing on multi-ethnic and cross-state power relations, this paper aims to illustrate an important historical dimension of immigrant Chinese localization and transnationalization, i.e., how the transnational Chinese immigrant community were closely related to the wider British-Siamese-Malay power politics and the local Malay state formation. The paper includes three parts: I. Southeast Asian Local Context: Chinese Migrants, Penang and Kedah; II. Chinese Migrants and Colonial Regional Politics: A Case of the British Consulate; and III. Chinese Cross-border Business and Colonial Legal Dilemma: A Case of Kedah State.
