摘　　要：湖州地处浙江北部,山水纵横,人杰地灵,其地名的命名颇具特色。考察湖州地名的命名特征,可以从社会文化角度揭示叠印在湖州地名上的历史印迹和文化传统。Huzhou, located in the north of Zhejiang, has a crisscross network of mountains and rivers everywhere and is also renowned for being the birthplace of persons of great merits. There’s something special about each placename in Huzhou. By studying the characteristics in naming the places in Huzhou, we can reveal from the social culture the historical traces and cultural tradition that remain in the names of the places there.
