摘 要:介绍ECIP的技术原理,即利用图书印前电子文本,从中直接提取书目记录所需的描述性数据元素,并对其进行结构化处理,使之成为数据库文件,实现“一次录入,两种产品”;指出实施ECIP计划具有全面提高书目数据质量、实现自动编目,促进数字图书馆建设等重要意义;重点从指示符、书名、作者、版本等方面对ECIP与CNMARC著录格式的主要差异进行比较。With an increased application of CNMARC, its troublesome, repetitious, lengthy, and illusive shortcomings are becoming more and more grave. ECIP emerges to make up for those defects CNMARC possesses. The up-dated ECIP contains only 46 fields, and 153 sub-fields. What is more important is that ECIP may help publishers and librarians with less expensive and standard-formatted catalogs. Likewise, it enables publishers and librarians to get access to management, literature retrieval by means of the uniform cataloging. The paper particularly discusses the principles and significance of ECIP planning, in addition to a comparative analysis of the scan-reading formats of CNMARC and ECIP.
