A systematic classification of deposit types in the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River has been made, and 3 classes, 9 types and several independent types as well as some composite and transitional types have been distinguished according to the sources of ore-forming substances of copper, iron, sulfur and gold (polymetallic) deposits, geological environments for ore deposit formation and particularly mineralization in the region. The existence of ore magma-type iron deposits has been stressed again and the prospects of porphyry copper deposits and sedimentary superimposed-remoulding deposits have been summerized rather clear. Besides the minerogenetic series of ore deposits with local characteristics has been defined on the basis of the special relationship between the Yangtze-type syntectic magmatic rock series and the origin of ore deposits. The main ore-controlling factors are: fault, sequence of magmatic rocks, environment and ore-hosted horizons. It is indicated that the zoned network tectonic system of the Changjiang deep fault plays a basic role in controlling the genesis of rocks and ores. Magmatism and minerogenetic series is the internal cause for ore formation, the geological environment is a prerequisite for determining ore kinds and deposit types, and the stratabound nature and properties of country rocks are indispensable outer conditions for ore formation and concentrationl. Finally, according to the deposit types, minerogenetic series, geological setting and ore-controlling conditions, three main metallogenetic models are suggested; they are the Tonglin, Daye and Ningwu models. The ore-forming characteristics of various models are discussed. There are appreciable differences between various metallogenetie models, but regional ore-forming processes exhibit some regularities of evolution in time and space, and moreover the minerogenetic series, metallogenetic models and deposit types show correspondance, gradation and compounding both vertically and laterally.
