The vocal control and other phsiological functions of the hyperstriatum ventrale, pars caudale (HV_C)in Emberiza elegans were studied using electrical stimulating methods. The results were as follows:1)Long or short train electrica pulses stimulating different area of HV_C caused vocal response.2)Long train electrical pulses stimulating HV_C caused respiratory facilitating effects:increase of respiratory rate and depth.3)Short train electrical pulses stimulating HV_C caused inspiratory off-switch and a short lengthening of expiratory time, furthermore coordinating vocalizatians. 4)Electical stimulating HV_C caused standing of feathers, reducing heart rate. 5)Electrical stimulating HV_C caused standing of feathers, reducing of pupilla and moving of sensation. The results indicate that HV_C may be involved in the regulations of respiratory facilitating effects and bradycardia besides vocal control. And HV_C had exceptional effect to vocalization and respiration. It is suggested that HV_C may take an important part in coordinating song and respiration. Moreover HV_C also maybe involved in the regulations of vagetative and emotional functions.
