摘　　要：XML已经成为表示结构化和半结构化数据的标准格式,为了描述XML数据的结构和内容,几个XML模式语言已经被提出。本文首先简要介绍了XML的特点与文档格式,接着介绍利用XML来定义和记录OLAP多维数据建模中元数据(包括维度和多维主题)的详细过程,最后给出了一种通用OLAP工具—KDOLAP的多维数据建模工具的设计与实现方法。XML has become the standard format for representing structured and semi - structured data. To describe the structure and content of XML data, several XML schema languages have been proposed. The article begins with a brief introduction of the characteristic and document format of XML. After that, it describes the steps of defining and recording the metadata in multidimensional modeling. At last, it presents a method of designing and implementing the multidimensional modeling tool in a general OLAP tool-KDOLAP.
