Objective To discuss the test methods and significance of autonomic nerve damage in type 2 diabetes. Method 46 cases of type 2 diabetes patients perform heart rate variability (HRV) and sympathetic skin reflex (SSR) test. Results Test results of SSR and HRV:The positive rate have significant difference between groups with course of diseases ≤5 years and course of diseases ≥5 years. The test results of SSR and HRV show significant differences in the group with course of diseases ≤5 years. The differences of SSR and HRV are not significant in the group with course of diseases >5 years. Conclusion The positive rate of SSR is higher than that of HRV on autonomic nerve damage, when patients with type 2 diabetes and with course of diseases≤5 years. The positive rate of SSR of the patients with course of diseases> 5 years is higher than that of the patients with course of diseases≤5 years. The positive rate of HRV of the patients with course of diseases> 5 years is higher than that of the patients with course of diseases≤5 years. When perform SSR test in the type 2 diabetes patients,no matter if the course of diseases≤5 years or the course of diseases> 5 years, there are no significant differences among the index of SDNN,SDANN and RMSSD.
