摘　　要：社会道德标准是文学作品中经常探讨的主题.本文通过分析田纳西·威廉斯的剧作<欲望号街车>中的主人公违背人性意愿遵守或蔑视传统社会道德标准的悲剧,揭示威廉斯的道德观,即道德规范应当具有足够的同情心与灵活性,社会需要符合人性的、灵活的道德标准.The moral values of a society are often discussed in literary works. This thesis analyses the protagonists＇ tragedy in their obeying or despising the traditional moral values against humanity in Tennessee Williamss＇s play A Streetcar Named Desire. Based on the analysis, the paper tries to show that Williams holds the view that a society should have enough sympathy and tolerance and it needs humane moral values.
