摘　　要：On February 22, 2005, Prof. Boulton, the visiting Vice Principle at first the ideas about the situation Zhu Zuoyan, Vice President of NSFC, of the University of Edinburgh-During of basic research in China and UK. Prof met at NSFC with Prof. Geoffrey the meeting, both sides exchanged . Boulton then gave an introduction about the cooperation of Edinburgh University with the Chinese universities and institutions. And finally, some discussions have been made on such issues as encouraging innovative research, fostering young scientists and promoting China-UK cooperation. Dr. Nini Yang, International Liaison Officer in Beijing of the University of Edinburgh, Prof. Dong Erdan and Prof. Gu Ruisheng from the Department of Life Sciences, and Mr. Lu Rongkai from the Bureau of International Cooperation, NSFC, attended the meeting.
