摘  要:在中国加入WTO和申奥成功的背景下,中国的国际化进程在不断的推进,对外语人才的需求也与日俱增。新的时代背景给我国的外语教育带来了机遇和挑战。文章从外语培训按市场运作机制的角度总结了宁波外语培训学校的办学经验,讨论了这些培训学校在宁波市经济发展中所起的作用,并对今后如何适应激烈的市场竞争提出了几点建议,以畿希望宁波市的外语培训能走上可持续发展的道路,从而更好地为地方经济服务。After China's WTO accession and successful bidding for 2008 Olympic Games, particularly with the quickening process of globalisation, more and more professionals who are proficient in English are needed by the society. Thus, it presents both new challenges and chances for the development of foreign languages teaching in China. This paper, with the focus on commercialization of foreign languages training, summarizes the experience of foreign languages training schools in Ningbo, discusses their contributions to the development of economy in Ningbo, and puts forward some suggestions for them on how to survive in the highly competitive market in the hope that these training schools will maintain sustainable development and make more contributions to the local economy.
