摘　　要：本文是王涛博士应邀出席意大利Pio Menzo研究中心主办的一次国际研讨会时所做的演讲。其对世界能源可持续发展的乐观态度，引起了很大的反响。本刊择要发表，供读者参阅。Energy support is indispensable for social and economic development. People show more concerns over energy owing to the recent oil climbing. How long will petroleum continue to maintain as the main material of primary energy consumption？ energy organs and their related governmental departments in various countries are making the study of the oil industrial development trend in this century and have made their own estimation and prediction. In my opinion, the world oil resources still have a huge potential though it has been recovered worldwide for more than 150 years. My estimation is based on the following three aspects：
